Tulsa police say a confrontation over counterfeit money ended with a shooting late Thursday morning.

Police said the shooting occurred at the corner of North Lewis Place and East Woodrow just before 11:30 a.m.

They say Robert Rentie told them he sold his SUV on Wednesday, then, he found out the man who bought it paid with counterfeit money.

Police say Rentie found the man Thursday afternoon, confronted him, and when the man took a swing at him, Rentie shot him in the stomach.

EMSA took the victim to the hospital. Officers said he is expected to survive his wound.

Along with investigating the shooting, officers are also investigating Rentie's claim about the counterfeit money.

Rentie was booked into the Tulsa County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon.
