Tulsa Police Identify Officer Involved In Fatal Shooting

Tulsa police have identified an officer involved in the fatal shooting of a robbery suspect Friday night.

Police identify him as Corporal Daniel Miller, an 18-year veteran of the force.

According to police, Cpl. Miller and a Tulsa County sheriff's deputy were trying to arrest three people who were suspected in two robberies.

Police say Cpl. Miller and the deputy opened fire when 18-year-old Karina Sandoval-Jimenez, 17-year-old Brian Ayub and 19-year-old Adrian Ayub drove toward them.

Sandoval-Jimenez died and Brian Ayub was wounded. Ayub was released from the hospital and arrested for robbery with a firearm. Adrian Ayub was unharmed and arrested at the scene.

The Tulsa County Sheriff's Office identifies the deputy as Sergeant Rick Treadwell, a 30-year veteran.

According to police, the first armed robbery took place at a Dollar General Store in the 3900 block of South Garnett Road about 11 p.m.. About two hours later a mile north, officers and deputies responded to another armed robbery call at Marez Mexican Restaurant and saw two men running from the building to a waiting car with a woman inside.

A standoff ensued and officers said the driver of the car accelerated in an attempt to ram police. TPD said that's when the officers opened fire on the car and three people inside.
