Oral Roberts University is saying thank you to the man who helped the school make a big turn-around in the last few years, by declaring Wednesday, Mart Green Day.
Wednesday was his last day as chairman of the school's board. He became chairman in 2008, when Richard Roberts stepped down as president of the university.
He has led the school through several big projects, like getting out of debt, building new buildings and finding new presidents.
Students and staff dedicated a statue to him Wednesday, gave him a book of handwritten letters and recorded messages of thanks.
"The five words I'd like to leave you with come out of our vision statement, and this is the way you can say thank you back to me, 'Hear God's voice and go.' Thank you," Green said.
Green will remain on the school's board and they will name a new chairman Thursday.
