The Tulsa Police Department spent several hours searching for a man who led officers on a high-speed chase Tuesday morning.

The chase began when an officer attempted to stop a Mitsubishi SUV near 5th and Garnett at about midnight.

After winding its way through neighborhoods in northeast Tulsa, the chase ended at 66th Street North and Memorial when the driver got out and ran. Police said speeds during the chase reached 80 mph.

The Tulsa Police helicopter, K9 officers and Owasso Police officers were called in to help with the search but called it off at about 3 a.m.

Police arrested a passenger in the SUV -- Alyssa Gilbert, 19, of Broken Arrow -- after finding illegal drugs in the vehicle.

Officers booked Gilbert into the Tulsa County jail on complaints of possession of a controlled and dangerous substance and possession of marijuana.
