Railroad Company To Buy Safer Tankers To Transport Oil

After several explosions, some of them deadly, the feds issued warnings that trains carrying a certain type of crude oil are more explosive than others.

The government is scrambling to increase regulations to make those tankers safer. In the meantime, Burlington Northern Santa Fe plans to buy its own fleet of tankers in an effort to speed up that process.

A BNSF spokesperson said the company will invest in five thousand next generation tankers with new safety features.

It hopes this move will push manufacturers to hurry up and start supplying the rest of the industry with safer tankers.
