The Bartlesville police chief says an officer who suffered a heart attack while arresting a stabbing suspect Wednesday is "alert and doing well."

Chief Tom Holland said the officer was attempting to arrest Benjamin Walton in the parking lot of a Bartlesville Taco Bell when the officer suffered a heart attack.

Holland said the suspect's fellow workers and an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper came to the officer's aid. During the melee, police said Walton tried to take the officer's gun.

The officer was taken to the hospital and after surgery, Holland said he is resting comfortably and was expected to be released this weekend.
