A massive road closure began Friday as crews shut down a section of Highway 169 and Highway 266 to start construction on the 266 overpass bridge.

Signs warned motorists of the closure as they traveled on Highway 169 to 266 near Owasso. A somewhat simple detour for 169 travelers; but more of a headache for folks driving on 266, as some will face a trickier diversion to state Highway 167.
All lanes of north and southbound U.S. Highway169 are shut down in both directions, and State Highway 266 above 169 is also closed. It will mean big-time detours for drivers and a big-time slowdown.
This entire project is to give construction crews the weekend to remove a structurally deficient section of the 266 bridge, just a small part of the massive $9 million interchange improvement.
Crews advise drivers to slow down and be safe - or better yet, avoid the construction area and use U.S. Highway 75.
The construction is scheduled to take place until Monday morning. You can find any updates in the Daily Detours section of our website.
