Tulsa Pro-Life Marchers Mark Anniversary Of Rowe V. Wade

Wednesday marked the 41st anniversary of Rowe versus Wade, The Supreme Court ruling that legalized abortion in the United States.

And 41 years later, the passions and anger that ruling brought is still here.

Many downtown streets were blocked off Wednesday night to allow about a thousand pro-life advocates to march for their mission.

For six blocks, pro-life supporters marched, carried signs and banners and even sang along the route.

Marchers said they believe life begins at conception and said they view it as murder.  Speaker, Claire Culwell, shared her story with the crowd.

Culwell's biological mother got pregnant at 13 and went in for an abortion; Culwell survived, but her twin did not. Her biological mother went in for a second abortion, but was turned away because it was too risky.

Culwell now uses her survival story to speak at events across the nation.

"I just hope that people can see this as a way to put a face on this issue, and that it's really hurting people, and that there's no excuse. There's no excuse for the selfishness of abortion because it's taking a life," Culwell said.

Supporters of Rowe versus Wade gathered in the Brady District Wednesday to commemorate the anniversary of the Supreme Court ruling.

They say there's still work to be done to protect women's reproductive rights.
