There were no public comments at the first of two public hearings concerning the creation of a Tulsa County Tax Incentive Financing District for Macy's proposed distribution center Tuesday morning.

Macy's announced in December it plans to build a $170 million center on 72 acres of unincorporated land east of Highway 75 on 76th Street North. The center which is expected to be completed by 2015 is projected to have an economic impact of $80 million a year and add 2,500 jobs to the workforce making it one of Tulsa County's largest employers.

The tax incentive financing district would exempt the company from property taxes for four years starting in 2016.
