The TU women took care of business on Monday.

Ashley Clark and Mariah Turner both posted double-digit points to lead Tulsa to a 76-71 win over UNCG on Monday afternoon in the Fordham Holiday Classic at Rose Hill Gym in Bronx, N.Y. TU moved to 5-5 on the season, while the Spartans fell to 4-9 overall.

There were two tied scores and three lead changes in the first frame, but Tulsa had the advantage for most of the half and took a 36-32 lead into the lockerroom. The Golden Hurricane shot 41-percent from the field, but was just 2-of-8 from three point range, and shot 90-percent (10-of-11) from the charity stripe. The Spartans were 34-percent from field goal range, 40-percent behind the arc and 75-percent from the free throw line.

In the second half, UNCG tied the game at 38-all at the 18:05 mark, but Tulsa pulled ahead never relinquished the lead and earned the five-point victory.

Clark had a team-leading 15 points, followed by Turner with 14 and Loren McDaniel with 8 points. Stevi Parker pulled down a team-best 10 rebounds, five assists and two blocks.

The Golden Hurricane shot 40-percent from the field, 30-percent from behind the arc and 78-percent from the free throw line in the contest.

Tulsa had a narrow 40-39 lead in rebounds, while UNCG had a 16-14 advantage in assists, a 4-2 lead in blocks and a 5-4 advantage in steals.

TU had 38 points in the paint, 25 points off the bench and 19 points off turnovers.

The Spartans were led by Breonna Patterson with 17 points, while Janae' Stevenson added 12 points, and Bailey Williams and Jade Scaife both had 11. Scaife had a team-high nine boards, while Lucy Mason had five assists and two steals.

Tulsa will return to action on Saturday, January 4th against Valparaiso. Game time is set for 2:30 pm at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
