A 19-year-old is in jail after police say he stabbed another man 14 times during an argument, and also stabbed a witness who tried to break it up.
It happened less than an hour after Christmas Day ended, according to the Cherokee County District Attorney's Office.
The two began to argue after Anthony R. Sims hurled insults at the other man's girlfriend, saying she was a bad mother, witnesses said.
Tahlequah police arrived to the home in the 600 block of East Cherry Street just before 1 a.m. on Thursday.
According to the victim, he was outside with Sims when the verbal argument began and escalated to fight, a probable cause affidavit says. The victim reportedly told police Sims began stabbing him.
A witness who tried to break up the fight was stabbed twice, the affidavit says.
There were three children at the residence during the incident, police said.
Sims is being held at the Cherokee County jail in lieu of $100,000 bond.
The victim was transferred from a Tahlequah hospital to Tulsa, but his current condition is unknown.
