Veterans buried in Fort Gibson National Cemetery were honored this weekend during Wreaths Across America.

Members of the Civil Air Patrol and other military services, veterans and their families joined together in a holiday tribute to those who served their country.

Evergreen wreaths were laid on the gravesites to honor those who put themselves in harm's way.

Wreaths Across American takes place at the Veteran's Administrations national cemeteries and state veterans cemeteries throughout the country. It began at Arlington National Cemetery in 1992.

The wreath laying ceremony at Fort Gibson took place Saturday morning.
