Christmas came early for dozens of children in Green Country.

It was an Oklahoma Moment when 30 kids from area elementary schools got to pick out their favorite gifts, side-by-side with Tulsa's finest in the annual "Shop With a Cop."

For years, The Rotary Club of Tulsa has teamed up with the Tulsa Fraternal Order of Police to make the event possible.

Police say it helps to build a foundation of trust early.

"Most people, any economic status, only see us when something bad has happened. It's a good opportunity for a kid to see us in a normal environment," TPD Maj. Tracie Lewis said.

When all the shopping is done, student volunteers from the University of Tulsa will help wrap the gifts.
