Whenever there's a chance for bad weather people always head to the store stock up. And with this round coming, several clothing and hardware stores are seeing plenty of business.
Academy Sports and Outdoors is just one of the many places selling winter weather gear, including these hand warmers, which have been their hottest seller over the last few days.
Pam Stanford is one of the many people around Green Country on the hunt for winter gear for her granddaughter.
"She's ready for the snow, she's ready for the sled, she's ready to be outside," said Stanford.
And we found Jim Barrett with a cart full of boots. He prefers a lined pair of Crocs, for when he'll have to walk outside and get firewood.
"Yeah, you gotta prepare. No matter what, you gotta prepare for it, whether it hits or not," Barrett said.
Academy Manager Mark Sallaway is keeping shelves stocked, as they're seeing a rush on boots for all ages, coats, hats, and gloves. But he was in the grocery business for 17 years, and he's already seen the difference between that and retail.
"For the last three, four days, it's been selling very well. Now, grocery usually hits the day before and it's a mad rush," Sallaway said.
And for those folks with grandkids who like the snow, these next few days will give them a golden opportunity.
"I'll be home, I'll be in my recliner and if I need food, I'll go next door to Mom and Dad's," Stanford said.
We also called Best Electric and Hardware over on Brookside, and they tell us de-icer, scrapers and anti freeze are flying off the shelves.
