Homeless Man Dies In Tulsa's 65th Homicide Of Year

A man who was shot in the head while driving down a Tulsa street last month has died of his wounds, according to police.

A homeless man who was shot while driving near 53rd and Peoria died of his wounds Monday night. Tulsa Police Homicide Sergeant Dave Walker said Stephen Moran, 45, passed away at 8:45 p.m.

Moran was driving a Mazda RX-8 at about 2:20 a.m. November 22, 2013, when a bullet entered the back window of the car and hit him in the back of the head. The vehicle crashed into the Corner Cafe where it was found a short time afterward.

Moran is the city's 65th homicide of 2013. Walker said the victim had recently become homeless and had several contacts with police the two weeks before the shooting.

"He had been contacted by police, scrapping and dumpster-diving to make ends meet," Walker told News On 6 Anchor and Crime Reporter Lori Fullbright after the shooting.

"There was no evidence of criminal wrong doing. It was late, and he was out and about."
