A woman is dead following a high speed wreck Monday afternoon in Rogers County. The single-car crash took place just after 3 p.m. on EW 320 Road at NS 4120 Road.

The OKlahoma Highway Patrol said the car, driven by 33-year-old Kimberly Deason, of Talala, was split in half after striking a tree. A man who lives nearby told News On 6 the sound of the crash was so loud he thought it was an explosion.

Troopers say Deason was eastbound on EW 320 when she failed to stop for a stop sign where the road dead ends at NS 4120 Road. The sedan went across a gravel driveway into a wooded area where it struck a tree.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers are investigating whether alcohol may have been a factor in the wreck.
