The battle between Christmas parades will continue for at least another year in Tulsa.

Efforts to merge the decades-old downtown parade with the 2-year-old parade that was started on the south side of town fell short this year.

The feud between the events began in 2009 when Tulsa dropped "Christmas" from the title of its Parade of Lights. In 2011, a small group of residents decided to stage their own parade -- simply called the Tulsa Christmas Parade.

Even though the downtown parade restored "Christmas" to its title for 2013, that wasn't enough.

The Tulsa Downtown Parade of Lights: A Celebration of Christmas, Hanukkah and Other Holidays is set for Dec. 14.

The Tulsa Christmas Parade is scheduled for Dec. 7.
