Good morning.  We're tracking another stout arctic front that will roll across the state this afternoon bringing more cold air tonight and Wednesday.  No precipitation will occur with this afternoon front, but some pre-dawn snow showers or mist will be possible in a few spots this morning.  The air mass will quickly modify by the end of the week with pleasant and cool weather for Thanksgiving.

We see a few clouds and even a pocket of snow showers and mist continuing to hold across part of the state this morning but will rapidly move southeast by sunrise.  At 3am this morning a small area of snow showers and mist was noted moving southeast across part of NE OK including the Tulsa metro.  This will not last long.  The major upper level system that has been responsible for active winter weather across the southern and central plains is now moving across southeast TX.  As the low pulls away from the state the clouds will clear allowing mostly sunny conditions today with highs moving into the lower 40s by the 1pm to 2pm time frame.  But soon after reaching our highs near 2pm, a strong arctic boundary will move across the state with gusty north winds and falling temps.  Our readings will be dropping back into the mid-30s by 5pm this afternoon and all the way into the upper teens or lower 20s by Wednesday morning.

As the major upper level system moves away from the southern plains this morning, showers and storms will move across the southeast portion of the country while a surface low will develop off the east coast.  This low will cause active weather along the east coast today, Wednesday, and part of Thanksgiving and may impact holiday travel to the east.  The central and southern plains will be in great shape Wednesday and Thursday with no significant weather issues.

Thursday and Friday will feature a return of southerly breezes and highs moving into the upper 40s and lower 50s.  Black Friday early morning shopping weather will feature cold air in the mid-20s with light winds and no precipitation.

A weak system will be nearing the state Sunday with increasing south winds and a slight chance of showers or storms Sunday evening into Monday.  The higher chance will occur across far eastern OK and western Arkansas but we'll carry a slight chance in our forecast for Sunday evening.  Temperatures will remain in the 50s for daytime highs this weekend into early next week.

Some data suggest another long wave trough will approach the region by the middle to end of next week with more cold air and some precipitation possibilities.  Stay tuned!

The official high yesterday in Tulsa was 36 at 2:55pm and also 11:59pm.

The normal daily average high is 56 and the low is 35.

Our daily records include a high of 83 from 1965 and a low of 14 from 1993.

You'll find me on Facebook and Twitter.

I'll be discussing the forecast on numerous Radio Oklahoma News Network affiliates across the state this morning through the noon hour.

Thanks for reading the Tuesday morning Weather discussion and blog.

Have a super great day!
