Round one of the Route 66 is winding up Saturday as the Health, Fitness and Sustainability Expo continues through 6 p.m. at the Cox Business Center, 100 Civic Center in downtown Tulsa.

Cold temperatures didn't keep 5K walk and 1 milers from hitting the street Saturday morning. They were greeted with silver thermal blankets at the finish line. Waiting next for the runners were Junior ROTC members with cookies and drinks.

Things got a little crazy with the Mascot Dash. Various Tulsa-area mascots including Eli the ORU Golden Eagle, Tulsa Oktoberfest's Oompah, a break dancing monkey and some assorted fruits and critters crossed the finish line on foot or by cartwheel.

Things get more serious on Sunday with the start of the marathon, half marathon and marathon relay set for 8 a.m. at 7th and Main. Some of the pre-race activities include a Native American blessing and the singing of the national anthem.

Runners will leave in waves and finish up at Guthrie Green - on Cameron between Boston and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
