Governor Mary Fallin said on her Facebook page Wednesday that reports of Oklahoma National Guardsmen being denied benefits for any reason are false.
Some publications are criticizing her for stopping state-run National Guard facilities from processing marriage benefits for anyone - gay or straight - forcing soldiers to travel to federal facilities.
According to a November 7, 2013, press release, that is the policy. So, Guardsmen are not being denied benefits, but they do have to go to federal facilities to have them processed.
The governor initially ordered state-run Guard facilities to stop processing them for same-sex married couples only.
The Pentagon said that violated federal law.
