The Osage Nation Congress Friday voted 12 to nothing in favor of holding a trial to remove Chief John Red Eagle.
Late last month, members of the tribe's investigating committee announced they'd found seven allegations sufficient to remove Red Eagle from office.
The accusations include violating and failing to uphold Osage Nation Law, abuse of power, and interfering with an attorney general investigation.
Chief Red Eagle released a statement refuting the allegations, saying he deserves a process that adheres to the principles of fairness and justice.
Red Eagle is calling on the tribe's Supreme Court to consider the case.
