Funeral Service Set For Man Killed Outside Mother's Tulsa Home

The funeral service for a man killed last Thursday is set for this Friday, according to a close family friend.

Mark Masingale, 33, was fatally shot outside the home where his mother, Charon Powell, lived with her boyfriend.

Police said a fight between Masingale and Powell's boyfriend led to the shooting and that Masingale may have been killed in self-defense. Investigators said they would turn the case over to the district attorney's office to determine if charges should be filed.

Charon Powell was left dealing with the death of her son in a year already full of tragedy. Her twin daughters, Rebeika and Kayetie Powell, were among the four women killed inside an apartment at Fairmont Terrace in January. And her young grandson was inside the apartment when his mother and aunt were murdered and inside the house when his uncle was killed.

Masingale's funeral will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at God's Shining Light Church in Tulsa.

A close family friend said a fund has been set up at Arvest Bank in Mark Masingale's name to help his family pay for the service.
