The public was invited Saturday to a carnival benefiting injured City of Tulsa employee Robert Bower. Bower was badly burned when his work crew hit a natural gas line on August 29, 2013.

The carnival and cookout were held at the Tulsa Event Center, 2625 South Memorial Drive, from 4 to 8 p.m. The family-fun event included music, games, and grilled food.

There were raffles for items donated by a number of Tulsa-area businesses including Reasor's, QuikTrip, Blue Ox Dining Group, Mr. Kleen Karwash, McNellie's Group, Alloy Welding Supply, Tulsa Oilers and Tulsa Drillers.

Bower is not expected to return to work, according to the city workers union. He, his wife and their foster children will benefit from money raised at the carnival or for donations made to the Robert K. Bower Benefit Fund at Bank of Oklahoma locations.
