Police Cruiser-Involved Crash Backs Up Traffic Near Union Game

A Tulsa Police cruiser was involved in a crash Thursday evening near the Union football game.

It created a big backup on the way to the stadium.

Police say the cop was leaving a call and had his lights and sirens on, when he was hit by a green van.

Officers say the driver was cited for a common mistake.

"Don't drive in the center lane," said Cpl. Will Dalsing. "If you're in a hurry to get in the left turn lane in the next intersection, you cannot legally drive in that lane, crossing the double line to get into there"

The squad car's airbag deployed, and the officer wasn't seriously hurt.
