A 5-year-old boy was ejected during a crash and found in the middle of Highway 169. Troopers say the child was taken to the hospital after the Sunday afternoon wreck.
Troopers say a 2001 Lexus was southbound on the highway and ran off the road to the left near 56th Street North. The driver, 32-year-old Joshua Waggoner of Piedmont, overcorrected and hit a cable barrier. The Lexus rolled twice, and the child was thrown 15 feet from the car.
"There was a child in the back seat that was unrestrained, and after the collision was lying in the roadway," said Trooper Aaron Kern.
"It's a sad deal. "
The 5-year-old was taken to a Tulsa hospital with head and other injuries. Kern told News On 6 that a child seat was in the trunk of the car.
The driver was also admitted to the hospital with multiple injuries and is said to be stable. Troopers say he was in apparently normal condition at the time of the wreck.
The collision report says the driver was distracted by something inside the vehicle.
