Tulsa's 13th-ranked men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to 20th-ranked New Mexico on Wednesday night at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. TU fell to 6-4-1 on the season and 1-2 in Conference USA, while the Lobos moved to 6-3-2 overall and 2-0-1 in the league.

"We controlled a lot of possession and defensively we were very solid," coach Tom McIntosh said. "We didn't give away many chances and they got one good break in the second half and were able to put it away. We weren't able to put our chances away, we didn't have many, but we did have a few good looks. Overall I thought our performance was pretty good. We had some guys play pretty well, we just couldn't get the goal."

Both teams battled for the first 75 minutes before Niko Hansen punched in a goal from three yards out off a cross from James Rogers at the 76:49 mark to give New Mexico a 1-0 lead and the eventual win.

Cristian Mata led the Hurricane attack with four shots, while Akeil Barrett added two attempts. Jake McGuire logged all 90 minutes between the posts and had two saves.

The Lobos had a 10-8 lead in shots, while Tulsa had a 4-3 advantage in shots on goal and a 3-1 lead in corner kicks.

Tulsa will return to action on Sunday, October 13th against Charlotte. Game time is set for 4 p.m. at the Hurricane Stadium.
