It was a big day for some special Oklahoma athletes. Owasso hosted the state Special Olympics soccer competition Wednesday.
Thirty-five teams from across the state hit the fields. Each team was made up of Special Olympics athletes and partner athletes.
Some of the athletes were sent off to the competition by their school bands and some will be welcomed home Wednesday evening with police escorts.
Jenks, Sperry, Bethany, Yukon, Tulsa Memorial, Wagoner, Owasso, Harrah and Sand Springs schools participated.
