A Tulsa OB/GYN is in federal custody in Missouri, charged with sexual exploitation of children. Dr. Shelby Coleman was arrested Saturday after troopers say he went there to have sex with a 16-year-old boy.
Coleman works for the Tulsa Women's Health Care Clinic near 101st and South Yale. Patients say they feel terrible for the other doctors and staff at the clinic. The clinic had no comment but took Coleman's picture and information off its website.
Stephanie DeVault says Coleman tended to her after the birth of her daughter at the hospital.
"When we heard about it, we were just shocked in general because he didn't seem that kind of person," DeVault said.
An affidavit says a Missouri father notified police his 16-year-old son was receiving sexually explicit text messages from an adult. A Highway patrol trooper says he took over the teenager's phone and continued the correspondence with Dr. Coleman.
The affidavit says evidence from the phone shows the boy and Coleman had exchanged photos of their genitals and Coleman offered to "show him the ropes" sexually.
It says the doctor told the boy he drives a Porche and "wanted to drive around in it with the boy naked." Court records say they agreed to meet at a Springfield hotel at 10 a.m. on September 28, 2013. However, a trooper showed up instead.

The trooper says Coleman admitted he was there to have sex with the 16 year old, even though Missouri's age of consent is 17. The affidavit says Coleman also admitted to having sex with three boys in Green Country, two 16 year olds and a 14 year old.
He said he met all of them online, including one he picked up from a Broken Arrow junior high school. They say he admitted to having nude photos of each boy.
Federal Affidavit [WARNING: Graphic]
The document says he brought the boys here to his home, engaged in the sex acts, then drove them home. It says Coleman admitted to having several hundred sexually explicit pictures of children from mid-teens to age seven.
The affidavit says Coleman admitted he knew what he was doing was illegal and said he knows he needs help because his sexual preference is for children who are just through puberty.
It says he told them he'd thought about talking to a counselor but had not done so.
I left my business card at Coleman's home and left a message for his attorney. He has a federal court hearing in Missouri on Thursday.
