A motorcycle collided with a trash truck on a highway in east Tulsa Wednesday morning, killing the Arkansas man who was driving the motorcycle and critically injuring his female passenger.

It happened on Highway 412 at 265th East Avenue at 10:23 a.m.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a trash truck driven by Danny Jenkins, 25, of Locust Grove was southbound on 265th East Avenue when it stopped in the turn lane of Highway 412. The 2007 Honda motorcycle was eastbound on the highway, according to the OHP.

The OHP says the truck driver didn't see the motorcycle approaching and started to cross the highway. The motorcycle ran into the side of the truck, impacting on the right side wheel and tire of its forward-most rear axle.

The OHP says the driver of the motorcycle -- Jeremy Lawson, 19, of Alexander, Arkansas -- died at the scene.

Troopers say his passenger -- Lauren Nieto, 21, of Russellville, Arkansas -- was flown by medical helicopter to St. John Hospital in Tulsa in critical condition.

The OHP says it doesn't know if Lawson and Nieto were wearing helmets.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Jenkins and his passenger were not hurt.
