Good morning and welcome to Labor Day. I'll keep the discussion brief this morning.
A Surface cold front is located well south of our area this morning and could provide a few showers and thunderstorms along the Red River Valley. I suppose a brief shower may also be possible cross eastern Oklahoma for the next several hours, but the likelihood of this will remain very low.
The upper air pattern has changed. Our mid-level Ridge of high pressure is now located to the west of our area and will be centered near the intermountain region of the west. This means a week Northwest flow aloft will remain for the next few days. Surface temperatures will be below the seasonal average for today and tomorrow and morning low temperatures will be very pleasant with readings in the 60's for the next several days. Our temperatures will continue to slowly climb through the end of the week. Afternoon highs by Wednesday Thursday and Friday will be in the lower to mid 90's with morning lows in the upper 60's or lower 70's from Thursday into the weekend.
At this point we see no major storm systems in our area for the next 5 to 7 days. Weak surface ridging will keep skies mostly clear today through tomorrow and for most of the week. A few clouds, on occasion, will move across northern Oklahoma.
This past Friday and Saturday our high temperature did break 100. This means we have had seven days of 100 degree heat this summer and only two of those days were in August.
The official high temperature in Tulsa yesterday was 92 from 12:37pm. The normal high temperature is 90 the normal low temperature is 68. The daily record high is 109 from 1939 and the daily low record is 51 from 1974.
You'll find me on Facebook and Twitter.
I'll be discussing the regional statewide forecast on numerous radio Oklahoma news network affiliates.
Thank you for reading the Monday morning weather discussion and blog.
Have a super great day.
