A woman was shot in the back in the 1600 block of East 61st Street overnight. Tulsa police were called to the scene shortly after 12:30 a.m. Sunday.
Police say the woman's 14-year-old daughter called 911 after her mother was shot. The young girl said she was awakened by an argument between the mother and live-in boyfriend, Deangelo Stevens.
The young girl fled into the bathroom, the report states, where she was joined by her mother. Stevens followed them inside and shot the woman in the back, the arresting officer said.
Police say Stevens, 32, told them the gun went off by accident while he and the victim were "tussling."
Stevens was arrested on a complaint of shooting with intent to kill (after felony conviction). Because the 14-year-old girl and Stevens' 4-year-old daughter were present, a complaint of domestic assault and battery in the presence of a minor was added.
The victim, who was conscious, was taken to the hospital.
