Tulsa Volleyball Falls On Road To No. 22 Dayton

Tulsa volleyball lost their season opener in four sets to No. 22 Dayton on the road Friday night.

The University of Tulsa volleyball team lost its season opener 3-1 (23-25, 24-26, 25-21, 21-25) against No. 22 Dayton in the Frericks Center in Dayton, Ohio in the Dayton Invitational.

Tulsa (0-1) had two players to record double-doubles. Junior transfer outside hitter Valerie El Houssine led the team with 15 kills and had a match-high 21 digs. Senior outside hitter Kellie Culbertson had 11 kills and 14 digs.

Junior setter Bailey Clampitt led the team with 22 assists, while freshman Genesis Viera had 21 assists.

The Flyers (1-0) were led by Megan Campbell with 15 kills, Jenna Jendryk with 37 assists and Janna Krafka with 14 digs.

TU continues play in the Dayton Invitational Saturday with two matches against Missouri State at 9 a.m. and then Northeastern at 4:30 p.m

The Golden Hurricane begins the 2013 home campaign on Tuesday, Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. in Donald W. Reynolds Center.
