Kids in Colcord are getting the rest of the week off due to a water emergency prompted by tiny red worms found in the town's water supply.
Colcord officials said they had to put a high concentration of chlorine in the water to get rid of the worms and they're flushing that water through the system.
In the meantime, there is a "do not drink" order in effect. Residents are being told to limit their water usage, so the water tower can refill.
According to Colcord Emergency Management, 50 gallons of chlorine have been dumped in the system and the worms are all dead. The city is waiting on DEQ to arrive and on more chlorine to come in.
School was canceled this week, and Superintendent JD Parkerson said classes will resume on Tuesday, after the holiday weekend.
