Police say it was a tragic accident. Halstead was at the school with her mom to pick up a sibling.

People have created a memorial to her at the school, leaving stuffed animals and cards there.

A memorial service for Emmalee will be heat at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday at Floral Haven.

Friends of her mother have set up a memorial fund and web site, which can be accessed here. Donations can also be made at any RCB bank.

Organizers say the money raised will be used to pay for Emmalee's funeral expenses.

The families of Emmalee's mother and father released a statement Wednesday afternoon:

"The Jenkins and Halstead families would like to express our sincere appreciation to family, friends, and the community for the overwhelming outpouring of condolences, support, and generosity. We are extremely grateful."
