Oklahoma Man Killed In Minnesota Construction Accident

A man from Oologah, Oklahoma died in a construction accident on a Minnesota utility project on Wednesday, August 14, 2013.

The accident happened Wednesday morning when two men fell into a 50-foot hole.

A friend of the family tells News On 6 the man who died was Robert Fenstermacher, 28. She says he grew up in White Oak, but he and his young family made their home in Oologah. They include his wife, Katie, and their two sons, Matthew and Luke, who is just three weeks old.

The friend says Robert Fenstermacher was doing contract work in Helena Township, Minnesota for Aldridge Electric and that his family was staying with him while he finished the job.

In a news release, Scott County Sheriff Kevin Studnicka said the workers were part of the CapX 2020 power line project about 40 miles southwest of Minneapolis.

The sheriff said both workers were standing on a circular rebar section and were being lowered into the hole by a crane when a strap broke causing them to fall 20 to 30 feet.

The sheriff said Fenstermacher died due to head injuries. The other worker -- Jeremy Moye, 37 of Machesney, Illinois -- was treated and released.

The sheriff said his office and OSHA are investigating the incident.
