A skywatcher's delight, the Perseid meteor shower is set to peak the nights of August 12th and 13th. WARN Team Meteorologist said cloud cover may interfere with visibility, however.

"The best time to see them are during the pre-dawn hours as earth's orbit aligns our longitude more directly with the debris path of rocks and ice - the meteors - from the tail of the Swift-Tuttle Comet," Grogan said.

"At the peak, you may see more than 100 meteors per hour."

NASA recommends lying on the ground and looking straight up into the sky - as far away from artificial city lights as you can get.
