It's being called Tulsa Community College's best kept secret--The Grid is TCC's relatively new Internet radio station.
Ed Taylor is an Assistant Professor of Journalism and Broadcasting at Tulsa Community College. He teaches radio and television production classes. Part of that job is managing the station.
"I'm program director, music director, part-time disc jockey, and sometimes I put the trash out," Taylor said.
It's TCC's first radio station. When the school built the new center for creativity, the plan always included a radio facility. It took a couple of years, but finally went on the air in October 2012.
The music's designed to please students and staff.
"I start the day kind of light. By the time we get to midnight, it's pretty heavy music," Taylor said.
The station is on all day every day and the computer software they use to operate The Grid is the same as commercial stations in the area.
"The students really get a taste of what it's like to be in the industry," Taylor said.
He said he thought the station is TCC's best kept secret. Maybe that will change soon.
