Randal Grichuk hit a three-run homer in the top of the eighth inning to lift Arkansas to a 4-1 win over the Tulsa Drillers Friday night.
Tulsa's Kyle Parker had tied the score in the bottom of the seventh with a solo home run, his 18th of the season. With one out, Grichuk took the first pitch from relief pitcher Juan Gonzalez and drove it over the right field fence to break the tie.
Arkansas relievers Nick Maronde and David Carpenter shut the door on the Drillers, not allowing a hit over the final two innings. Carpenter picked up the save, while Michael Cisco picked up the win.
Josh Mueller took the loss for the Drillers, which managed just three hits for the game.
Arkansas took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on an RBI double from Cyle Hankerd. Until Parker's home run, the Drillers were completely shut down by Travelers' starter Drew Carpenter, who allowed two hits and one walk over six innings, striking out three.
The two teams are back in action Saturday night in Tulsa at 7:05 p.m.
