Wednesday Morning Update

Greetings.  We do have thunderstorms in the region early this morning.  As the storms moved across northern OK 50 to 70 mph winds were reported resulting in numerous power outages, flash flooding, and some wind damage.   At this hour (3:20am) no severe thunderstorm warnings are currently in effect for our immediate area.  Flash Flood warnings do remain through the early morning hours for some locations.  The discussion must be brief due to the active radar.

The scattered storms should continue for the next few hours across northern OK and part of southern Kansas, and a few may still be strong to severe even early this morning to the southwest of our area.  The threat will be diminishing by sunrise if not sooner.

 Later today a few more isolated storms will be possible across northern OK.  The higher focus should be southward across south-central or southeastern OK this afternoon where temps may still climb to the mid or even upper 90s.  Temperatures across northern OK and southern Kansas should be cooler than yesterday but still in the lower or mid-90s with a sun-cloud mix.  East to northeast winds will be likely for the morning hours before winds back to the southeast later this afternoon and evening.  Wind speeds should be in the 10 to 15 mph range.

The next system will rapidly approach Western OK Thursday afternoon in the form of a strong upper level disturbance.  This wave will slide across northern OK and southern Kansas Thursday night into Friday with a very good chance of thunderstorms, some of which may be strong to severe.  Heavy rainfall with a flash flooding threat may be in the works for part of Northern OK, especially in areas that have received heavy rainfall earlier this week. 

Another boundary will move across the state Friday morning to midday bringing northeast winds and much cooler air Friday into the weekend with highs in the 80s and morning lows by the weekend into the mid to upper 60s.  Most data support another system either Monday or early Tuesday bringing yet another chance of thunderstorms.  Some of these storms Monday night into Tuesday could also be severe.
