Oklahoma City police say volunteers picking up litter in honor of Earth Day discovered a body Saturday in a wildlife refuge.

Oklahoma City police Sgt. Jennifer Morris says the body was found mid-morning in the Stinchcomb Wildlife Refuge near Lake Overholser.

Friends of Lake Overholser organizer Bill Gronos says about 40 volunteers began their cleanup around 8:30 a.m. Saturday. Overholser tells The Oklahoman that a woman picking up trash discovered the body in the refuge.

He says police cleared the area after the discovery of the body.

The death remains under investigation.
