Oklahoma Highway Patrol said a 59-year-old Claremore man was killed after his van crossed the center line and struck another car on Highway 82.

It happened about two-and-a-half miles south of Locust Grove, in Mayes County, according to the OHP report.

Paul Bickford died at the scene from massive injuries, troopers said. He was pinned for about 40 minutes while the Locust Grove Fire Department worked to free him.

The accident report says Bickford crossed the center line in his 2001 Ford Econoline van and struck a 2013 Chevy Sonic, driven by Harold Proctor, 36, of Stilwell. Bickford then drove off the road and hit a guardrail and a tree before coming to a stop.

Proctor was not injured, and according to the accident report, both men were wearing their seatbelts.
