Tulsa County residents can safely dispose of household chemicals and toxic hazards this weekend at the MET's Household Pollutant Collection Event.

Tulsa County residents can safely dispose of household chemicals and toxic hazards this weekend at the MET's Household Pollutant Collection Event.

Saturday and Sunday, residents can bring items to the Tulsa County Fairgrounds on 15th Street using Gate #7.

Items include household cleaners and toxins, yard-care products and pesticides, acids, caustics, thinners, household flammable liquids, all fluorescent light bulbs, firearms ammunition (.50 caliber or smaller), smoke alarms, thermostats, oil, antifreeze and oil-based, aerosol, hobby paints and prescription medications.

Officials say items not being accepted include latex paint, commercial waste, radioactive waste, pressurized gas cylinders, water reactive chemicals, explosives and dioxins.

The event runs 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
