The Tulsa Drillers' early-season struggles continued on Tuesday night in Corpus Christi and the runs have proven hard to come by.
In fact, even in Tulsa's 1-5 start to the season, Tuesday's offensive production was the worst yet as the Drillers fell 6-0 to the Hooks.
Corpus Christi picked up two runs in the opening inning off Drillers' starter Dan Houston, who allowed 10 hits and five runs in 4.1 innings on the mound, falling to 0-2 on the year.
Hooks' center fielder George Springer singled to drive in Austin Wates for a 1-0 lead before Domingo Santana doubled on a ground ball to score Springer. They added two more runs in the third inning off of a Jiovanni Miller solo homer and a Santana RBI double to snag a 4-0 lead.
The Hooks added insurance to the victory with additional one-run fifth and sixth innings to move to 4-1 on the season, sweeping the series against Tulsa 3-0 in the process.
The Drillers collected just six hits in the loss and stranded four runners in scoring position.
Right fielder Kent Matthes and shortstop Cristhian Adames led Tulsa with two hits each.
The Drillers return to action on Thursday with their home opener at ONEOK Field at 7:05 p.m. against San Antonio.
