Saint Bernard of Clairvaux's south Tulsa location will undergo a $5 million campus expansion, construction firm Flintco announced Tuesday.

The Catholic parish is located at 4001 East 101st Street.

"We're very happy to get the project underway," said Monsignor Patrick Gaalaas. "We think it will be an important and lovely addition to these historic grounds."

The expansion include:

  • A geothermal heat exchange system to keep the energy cost of new addition to less than 5 percent
  • A new 2,300-square-foot indoor gathering place and entry. The new entryway will feature a Catalpa wood veneered door, harvested from a tree that is currently located on the expansion site.
  • Chapel expanded to twice its current size with curved facade allowing more natural lighting
  • Commercial-grade kitchen capable of serving up to 500 people
  • Increased parking

The expansion will resemble the original Griffith Building which is on the National Historic Registry with Art Deco styling.
