Tulsa Police honored a Tulsa man for his split second decision that likely saved two lives.
The department presented Mike Harrell with its citizen appreciation award today.
He came to the rescue of two women who were being attacked by a vicious pit bull last month. Harrell says he could hear the women's screams and ran to help.

"You see something that bad and you just want it to stop," he said. "Somebody needs to get in there, I was there, I'm gonna do it."
Harrell was able to distract the dog, but when the animal charged at him, he shot and killed it.
Both woman have been released from the hospital and are recovering at home.
