Driver Runs After Taking Out Tulsa Fence

A driver fled the scene of a single-car rollover wreck at about 4 a.m. Sunday in Tulsa. The crash took place at a metal recycling yard just off U.S. Highway 75 near the Lewis exit.

Police say the driver of a red Chevrolet Cobalt called in the crash but was gone when they arrived. The security guard on duty at Sims Metal Management said it was not unusual for vehicles to leave the highway near the metal scrap yard, located on the outside of a curve.

He was aware of four other similar crashes, and said two light poles lying on the ground near the tracks of the Chevy were from a wreck two weeks ago.

Sunday morning's wreck took out part of the fence around the recycling business.

Police say the driver may face charges of leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
