A dog who dedicated her life to helping the children of Green Country got quite the send-off Friday.
Katie, a 13-year-old, three-legged collie, was the guest of honor at a retirement ceremony.
She's been working at the Scholl Center, helping kids with communication disorders. Katie was rescued from a high-kill shelter, where she was dropped off after years of abuse. Through it all, she never lost her kind nature and gentle spirit.
"This is a dog that has been abused, but she never complains, she's non judgmental, she loves everybody equally," said Jacque Scholl.
Katie's owner said she will spend the rest of her life enjoying some well-earned rest and relaxation.
