Officials are breaking ground on a new location for the Ann Patterson Dooley Family Safety Center in Tulsa. It's a place where families suffering from the pain of domestic violence can find help.
The center, currently located at 31th and South Harvard, will move into the police department headquarters at 600 Civic Center.
It's a "one stop shop" for victims of domestic violence, according to Assistant District Attorney Meredith Stanton, providing medical and legal assistance.

Victims can see a forensic nurse and get help with emergency protective orders, filling out police reports and referrals to legal counsel or emergency shelter.
Stanton said a recent grant has provided funding for a high-risk team to identify the most violent offenders and the victims who need the most help as they navigate their way through the legal system.
