A man is in a Tulsa hospital after the Oklahoma Highway Patrol says he attempted to pass a truck on Highway 169 and got hit by a semi gong the other way.

The OHP says the crash happened at 11:30 a.m. on March 11, 2013, about 14 miles south of the Kansas state line.

The OHP says Ray Flaharty, 75, of Coffeyville, Kansas was flown by medical helicopter to a Tulsa hospital. The semi's driver was taken to a Coffeyville hospital.

Troopers say Flaharty was northbound on 169 in a Honda Accord and attempted to pass a semi with insufficient clearance. A southbound semi struck Flaharty's car causing it to roll over.

The driver of that semi, Samuel Proffitt, 62, of Tulsa was treated and released.

The report states the OHP cited Flaharty for causing the crash.
