Muskogee Police say they arrested a man, accused of sexually assaulting a woman in a hotel room, and who they say may have been involved in similar cases from previous months.
A woman reported to police early Thursday morning that a man she met online sexually assaulted her in a room at the Travel Inn Motel in Muskogee. She told police she met him there willingly, but he held her against her will and sexually assaulted her, and also stole property from her before he left.
The suspect, who police identified as Kevin Carter, 32, was stopped several blocks from the motel and arrested. He was booked into the Muskogee County Jail on a complaint of sexual assault.
Department of Corrections records show Carter has prior drug related convictions, for which he served time. He was also convicted on charges of obstructing an officer and escaping from arrest.
Investigators say they are "looking into the possibility" that Carter is the suspect in similar cases reported to the Muskogee Police Department in December and January.
